Actually, what I said is 100% accurate. It may look like Illustrator can
edit these files, but chances are that you are losing information that was
in your original PDF file in the process.
The PDF imaging model is based on PostScript, but it is much more powerful,
so yes, you do see some resemblance to PS, but it is not PostScript.
